A Brief History

1981

Stephen and Karen Byers acquire rights to new technology for glass surface protection. After extensive research and modifications to the original formula, the technology was named 'ClearShield"

 
 

1983 - 1985

 

 

Marine field trials are successfully undertaken, proving the performance of ClearShield; Ritec introduce it for use on commercial and industrial buildings

 
 

1986

The ClearShield System is born, designed to upgrade ordinary glass into ClearShield 'Non-Stick' Glass, either in the factory or onsite.

 
 

1986 - 1987

ClearShield 'Non-Stick' Glass is featured many times on BBC-1 Tomorrow’s World, one of the UK’s oldest and most popular TV programmes.

 
 

1987

ClearShield wins the Prince of Wlaes Award for Innovation and Protection and a Blue Ribbon Award at the Daily Mail Idea Home Exhibition, the UK's largest consumer exhibition.

 
 

1988

Ritec acquires a formulation originally developed for protection of offshore oil platforms and adapted it for use on paintwork, plastics, metals and wood.

 
 

1991

The Ritecoat System is born, designed to renovate and protect a range of surfaces.

 
 

1994

Nace Transparencia en Servicios como una empresa familiar, 100% mexicana, la cual encontró en el mercado un producto novedoso que permite brindar a los consumidores un valor agregado a sus cristales, manteniéndolos siempre como nuevos y mucho más fácil de limpiar

 
 

2000

The British Design Council selects the ClearShield System as a Millennium Product, acknowledging Ritec’s ongoing commitment to the development of innovative ‘non-stick’ surface technology.

 
 

2002

Ritec relocates the head office team from Tottenham to new premises at Innova Science Park in Enfield, Middlesex. This move was part of their plan to support continuing growth and business development.

 


Ritec International Ltd is granted the Investors in People Award.

The VoltShield System is introduced, specially developed for the renovation, protection and maintenance of glazed ceramic and glass electrical insulators.

    

 
 

2003

A joint venture in USA is formed, ClearShield Technologies LLC based in Chicago, offering ClearShield to the United States and Canada.

 
 

2004

Bohle ClearShield is formed, a joint venture between Ritec International Ltd and Bohle AG, based in Germany. Bohle ClearShield was formed specifically to provide a wide range of solutions for the renovation, protection and maintenance of glass in continental Europe, excluding Italy, Croatia and Turkey.

 
 

2005

Ritec wins the "Specialist of the Year" Award at the UK glass industry's G 05 Awards, thus recognising the company's pioneering work which started out over 20 years ago.
